Our 5 Top Tips for Self-Care

Our 5 Top Tips for Self-Care

Updated July 2021.

Lets be honest, life can get a bit hectic sometimes and we all need to take the time to look after ourselves, after all you can't pour from an empty cup. Self-care is something that tends to get neglected in our busy lives but try and find the time to give yourself some TLC, after all you deserve it! Here's a list of our top five tips when it comes to self-care ideas you can try today.

1. Go outside - It's a beautiful place to be!

Whether it's going for a walk, exercising outdoors or grabbing a coffee and sitting outside in the park watching the world go by. Fresh air and sunshine really help to clear your mind and can help us connect with ourselves. I love to go to the beach, mountains and the countryside as it's so peaceful and helps me to reset and really appreciate the beauty of nature that surrounds us.

2. Get a good nights sleep

Believe it or not, this is one of the most important things to remember when it comes to looking after yourself. We as humans cannot function without a decent amount of shut eye. Lack of sleep will have a detrimental effect on your mental and physical well-being. Learn to listen to your body and turn off that alarm clock and let your body wake naturally every once in a while. These bestselling Spacemasks are a perfect addition to a self-care gift box and are a great way to relax and unwind after a busy day and help your mind to switch off.

3. Have a digital detox - Put that phone away...

In this digital age we are surrounded by technology, from TV's to laptops and smartphones. It's great to give yourself a break from screen time, especially just before bed. Encourage your partner to do the same, even if just for an hour before bed - It's a great way to reconnect rather than looking at your phone, we've all been there! Too much screen time before bed can stimulate the brain plus the blue light that smartphones emit can disrupt the production of the sleep hormone melatonin. On top of that endlessly scrolling through social media sites can lead to comparison and feelings of not being good enough and its good to take a break every now and again. Another tip would be to un follow anyone who makes you feel like you are not enough... You are!

4. Take time to pamper yourself - It doesn't have to be expensive!

Whether this is treating to yourself to a day at your local spa, giving yourself a manicure or going to the hairdressers, its important to take that time to have an occasional pamper. My favourite things to do are take a relaxing bath, light some candles, start a new book and put an eye mask on! Pampering yourself does not need to be expensive and you will feel so much better after doing it and in a calmer place.

5. Just breathe - In and out, in and out.

Try and make time during your day to stop, breathe, focus and clear your thoughts, believe it or not taking this time to stop and reflect can help you become more productive and thoughtful. We spend so much time rushing about from one place to the next, it's important to stop every now and then. There are some great apps out there to help with meditation and breathing and once you've picked up the basics, you're good to go.
